life has never been noisier. or more lonely. but it doesn't have to stay that way.
➡️ You wish you could slow down in the middle of the rush. To breathe long enough to get fresh perspective on all the things on your plate.
➡️ You want to be more consistently creative, but feel stuck in the mud of last week’s ideas.
➡️ You want to be focused, but feel distracted and frustrated instead.
➡️ You wish you could harness inspiration to show up practically when and where you need it.
➡️ You're tired of feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from the reasons you started creating in the first place.
➡️ You want to live a more curious, connected, creative life… but right now the only thing you have energy to change is what show you’re binging on Netflix.
See if any of these sound familiar:
Yes? Then, friend, you BELONG here.
And there are a few thousand new creative friends waiting to say hi over in our Substack community.
Do I ever get it. January 28, 2018 I woke up after a car accident with what felt like a stranger's brain in my head. Overnight, I became a writer who lost her words. And I never felt more alone.
In the first months of brain injury recovery spent in a dark, silent room watching my life crumble around me, I promised myself 2 things.
1. Even if I had to learn language all over again, I would learn better words than the ones I lost. I immersed myself in poetry, in small moments of beauty, and in finding daily wonder to begin to make that happen.
2. I would find people doing what I wished I could be doing and pour courage on their dreams.
Wonder was the path back to myself and to depths of connection and creativity I could not have then imagined. It was so, SO simple. And it saved my life.

But SPOILER... you are an artist. Even if you don’t know it yet. Even if you have never picked up a paintbrush or doodled in the corner of your class notes.
painters, writers, scribblers, someday sketchbookers, creatives at heart— all are welcome
We have everyone from people who have never picked up a paintbrush or journaled a line before to full-time creatives who make their living from their craft.
This isn't about being perfect. It's about being present. You can't mess this up. You can't get it wrong. It is safe to be who you are here.
I believe there is an art spark that lives in every single one of us.
A hope that wants the world around us to be better and brighter. A dream of what could be. A seed of creativity longing to grow and offer beauty in places of loss and loneliness
I write from my journey because I believe the most powerful words are written with our lives first. I write the things my creative self most needs to hear in case you might need them too.
This is a community of courage and it is truly one of the kindest places on the internet. It is safe to explore and learn and grow. So many friendships have been found over prompts. People who have never painted are now painting.
The depth of joy and goodness that unfolds in these parts is really astounding.
I am so humbled and honored that I get to serve here and invite YOU to join us as we become more creative, feel less alone, and find wonder everyday.
